Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper criticised Richarlison after Tottenham’s 2-0 win at the City Ground on Sunday, saying he would not stand for the Brazilian’s showboating .
Richarlison set up the second of Harry Kane’s goals with a fine cross but incurred the wrath of opponents earlier in the second half after he juggled the ball by the touchline.
But his keepy-ups enraged Neco Williams and Brennan Johnson, who combined to upend the Tottenham player in a strong tackle.
An unimpressed Cooper said after the game: “I would not want my players to do that; to do what Richarlison did.
“But if that is acceptable at Spurs, it is nothing to do with me. But it would not be accepted here, that is for sure.”
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte shrugged off Richarlison’s tricks.
Asked if he felt his player was being disrespectful, Conte said: ” I think he juggled with the ball. It is a game and you are under pressure.
“I repeat it is OK. I don’t think Richy wanted to show disrespect to Nottingham Forest.
“Forest are a really good team with a great history in football and we have a great respect. Richy for sure thinks in the same way. Not disrespectful for anyone and I can tell you this.”
