The state of Alabama is home to seven five-star recruits in the Class of 2023. Alabama now has commitments from two of those elite prospects after Tony Mitchell, a cornerback from Thompson High School in Alabaster, pledged to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide on Sunday night.
Mitchell, rated No. 15 nationally in the 247Sports Composite, picked Alabama over Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M among others.
Earlier in the day, Alabama received a commitment from Brayson Hubbard, a three-star athlete from Ocean Springs High School in Pascagoula, Miss.
Last year, Alabama signed two players from Thompson High — five-star edge rusher Jeremiah Alexander and three-star cornerback Trequon Fegans. This year, the school is home to Mitchell and uncommitted five-star defensive lineman Peter Woods.
Alabama’s 2023 class now has seven commitments and is headlined by five-stars Mitchell and fellow in-state cornerback Jahlil Hurley from Florence High School. Last week, the Tide landed Wilkin Formby, a four-star offensive lineman from Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa.
